day 4:
i am thankful for
technology
i am so thankful that i can have light with the flip of a switch, i can watch my shows
and also keep andi entertained with our tv, i can use my computer for a million different things,
i have a phone that i can call sean, my family or anyone else with at anytime of day and anywhere,
i have a car that i can use to take me where we need to be, i have a camera and a phone that takes
photos so i can remember every special and silly moment of jo's life and our lives, i have a washing machine and dish washer and don't have to clean any clothes or dishes by hand, there are TONS more but one last thing that i am so grateful for and have learned to be even more thankful for this year and will have an all new kind of thankfulness for very soon is... email. earlier this year my cousin (and in our family cousins are pretty much our siblings, we have all grown up so close to each other and love each other like brothers and sisters) left to new york to serve a mission for our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. he will be there until february 2014 and isn't able to call us, we only talk with him through email and letters (he does get to call his family on christmas and mothers day but that's it and it's only for an hour or so) i am so grateful that with the advancement of technology he can go to a computer once a week and write us all to let us know what he is doing and how things are going and with the click of a button it is in our inbox and we can then write him back the same way. last week when the huge storm, sandy, was headed towards new york he was able to email us and let us know he was ok and what they had done to prepare, very very comforting to us here worrying about him!! and now the next 18 months this will be the only way i will be able to talk with my sister, brittnie, who has also made the decision to serve a mission for our church. she will be leaving to the mtc (missionary training center) on november 14th and then headed to jackson, mississippi at the end of the month and will be there until may 2014. i am so so so thankful that i will be able to write her back and forth and have email to make it faster because i am used to talking with her just about everyday and usually more than once. i am so happy and proud of her for making the choice to serve for our church and share the gospel with others that need it in their lives but i am really struggling with knowing i won't be able to just call her up or send her a text or send her funny stuff we're always sending each other. but i will be learning an all new gratitude towards technology and email. and that's what i am thankful for today :)
and now i'm a crying mess!
